Day 16 - It Rains

Rains are one of the most beautiful things to make any person get emotional. It’s very surprising to see that it has been raining for 4 days on a streak or even more maybe. The best part about the rains is that the nights are much cooler and we are able to seep better. On a regular summer day it would take us no less than 1 am to sleep. Rains are a form of blessings from the God above.

Let me entice you with a funny story when I was young. Our elders always used to say not to get drenched in the rain and always take shelter whenever it starts to rain. They used to tell us if you get drenched you will catch fever. We were kids after all and little did we concentrate on what was being told. One of the days when me and my cousins were at my Grandmother’s place playing out, it started to rain. Some of us started to run back to the home, It be began to pour momentarily and I was still out there jumping on the puddle to see how far the water splashed. After a furious look from my sister I had to join others for shelter. I was trying to dry my clothes outside the entrance and happily looking at the rain. Here’s the story changer. My sister complained to my cousin brother, “This guy never listens. He’s always up to some mischief.” To which he looked at me and told me one of the disgusting and weirdest thing that I still laugh at. He told me “Look you are not supposed to get wet in the rain and you cannot play in the water like you did. Understood?” I was surprised at his seriousness, yet curious to know I replied, "Why, what will happen?” He responded, “Gods get angry with humans so that’s why they piss on us from above to make us realize our sins” I was in a state of confusion of this new and weird information that I immediately ran inside the home to take a hot shower and clean myself from the piss of the Gods.

Later at night we all sat for dinner at dining table. It was the most memorable table in my grandmother’s place, I miss it even today. Finally when all of my cousins settled down on the table and started to eat, my sister and cousin brother saw me and were laughing. I ignored them and continued to eat. As we came to the last serving of our dinner. Both of them got caught laughing at the table and the elders asked them what happened. They were so excited that they narrated the entire evening’s drama with brilliant performance. Soon everyone knew about Gods pissing from above and were laughing at my foolishness to believe it. I continued to finish my dinner and went back quietly to the hall. Everyone were watching a movie when all of a sudden I got this idea in my mind. So, I asked my mind, “If the rains were piss from God, then what was hailstones?”

Signing off for today

  2. Nicely put... Childhood memories are the best to recollect . I remember as a 7 or 8 yr old kid , my grandfather used to get 5 star chocolate and keep it behind a god's photoframe. In times that I was fussy, he would say if I stop it , god would give me a chocolate. I would then keep quite and he would clap his hand and get the chocolate from behind the frame. I always thought he had some magic wand thru which he used to do that :) in the later years we used to laugh at iy
