Day 19 - How are you doing ? Are you alright ?

What do you love the most about nature ? Is it the beauty ? the simplicity ? the greenery ? Well for me it connects to my emotions and brings peace in me. Somewhere I read in a book that 15 mins of watching a Rose everyday changes your perspective of things and makes your creative brain open up. I tried for a week and something did change my mind, although I cannot say it opened the creative brain but I can surely say that it did made me think how nature can embrace you by just staying still. That’s about that now let’s dive right into the topic for today - Gardening.

It’s as simple as watering the plants everyday, removing dead leaves, repotting if needed and making sure the plants are free from insects. This is not just it, it’s above and beyond. Now let me narrate you a story that will connect you better to what I am saying here. 2 years back me and my best friend were talking outside his house. We were just at the compound wall of my best friend’s place. Our conversation went on for 2 hrs and finally we came to the end of saying good bye and I was about to leave. Here’s the interesting part, concentrate, Yes, you the reader. My best friend tells me, “I feel bad for them” and I looked confused at what he was trying to say, it was later that I realized he was pointing to the pots on the compound wall. So I ask him, “Why?” and he responded, “It’s been a while since my parents have gone to their native and I haven’t watered them.” I told him, “Fine, you water it from tomorrow” and he got into a sudden emotional conflict with himself and told me the most amazing thing that I try to relate to even today. He told me, “The plants have life just like us and they respond too, I had to water them daily after all they too will be thirsty, How could I have ignored it?”

A week after this incident I was talking to my friend on call and he told me, “Hey guess what ? Now I water my plants everyday even if my parents do it or not, I talk to the plants, I ask them are you alright? how are you doing today?” For a moment there, I thought he was talking to himself or better yet I thought he was joking or faking something or was it just his work pressure making him talk nonsense. But he never does with me, he is genuine and honest that I can assure you, he tells me everything with clarity. I kept quiet with nothing to respond nor say to him.

Fast forward 2 years from then to now during the lockdown. I have kept myself busy over the last few weeks, engaging in all activities from personal development to keeping the house clean and of course you guessed it right I have been doing gardening too. But this time it was different not like the other days when I just used to water the plants. I have been watering the plants in my green house for 3 weeks in a row and every time I go to each plant it connects me to my emotions. The joy of seeing the plants fresh and healthy makes you feel alive and a sense of belongingness too. You may find it tedious job or boring but trust me, it is the most satisfying and peaceful feeling you would ever get. I make sure that the first activity of my day starts with watering the plants. Now I see that each plant is talking to me and asking me - are you alright ? how are you doing today ?

Signing off for today
