Day 10 - There Will Be Hope

It was something that never happened over the last few weeks, and definitely the one which created more anxiety than the pandemic itself. It was none other than the announcement that our Prime Minister Narendra Modi made today at 9 am. Friends, family, colleagues and every other person started talking about it yesterday all of a sudden. It became an over night trend that the PM of our Country is going to make an important announcement. As anyone could guess we all thought that the announcement would be that the lockdown will not extend beyond the 21st day or maybe the lockdown will extend till May 4th. My friend texted on Instagram “Dude, please let it not extend. I am really fed up of being at home. I feel bored.” He was hoping for some good news, so do we during this tough times. Hope we must.

I saw my dad the other day browsing through his WhatsApp application for funny videos, information about the pandemic, some forward messages. He was hoping he would come across some good content, which he did and forwarded to our family WhatsApp group too. But he was always digging for more and more and more. When he uses his phone, he is a man possessed with the determination of inventing a new technological innovation. His efforts of hope never fail him, it only increases his search for more hopefulness. Isn’t this the same for us too, when we seek information we tend to be hopeful of something either good or interesting.

I got up early, finished my Cult live session. But today was more special since Mandira Bedi was going to take the Master Class. It was one hell of a workout which made me sweat as if I took bath. As soon as the workout was done all of us in the family were ready to watch the news telecast. At exactly 9 am we were all seated and ready for the news and so it began. Our PM went on to praise people’s effort of respecting the lockdown and told us we were fighting the important fight of our lives. We were all watching in anticipation of  good news or some kind of surprise to be unboxed. I remember my friend telling me “Bro if he makes an announcement at 8 pm its something to worry. But this 9 am one’s we need not be afraid of.”

His words were coming true at the end of the telecast the important message to the nation was that there will be turning off lights in our home on April 5th at 9 pm for 9 mins and turning on the torches, lamps and mobile flashlights. This is to show the power of togetherness and being hopeful of the coming weeks. We all sighed a relief that nothing worse was there. We were also not happy since we did not know if the lockdown would end on the given date. A nation united with a hope of overcoming the bad days. Although we did not hear the good news yet we were all hopeful of it for one day to come.
