Day 12 - Midway Crisis ?
We are fighting it hard and strong by staying indoors and not giving in to the temptation of going out. As we know that many of the sporting events have been stopped, events, concerts cancelled, film shooting stopped and many such things have just come to a stand still. We have never thought how life for them will be. For the rich it is family time and vacation time but for the people who cannot afford daily income ? What will happen to their family ? Although the Government takes necessary steps to counter this problem they are focused on safeguarding and protecting the citizens. It is difficult in identifying who needs help but we have seen the like of many people coming forward and contributing their savings towards the less fortunate.
At the beginning of the lockdown period my mom had told my dad to clean the house and he responded, “Chill, we have got 21 days more.” It was so funny, it just made me laugh out aloud. Yesterday we were at the dining table and dad was telling me that he wanted to wash the car. I told him “Chill Appa, We have still got time.” He was quick to respond, “No it’s just another 10 days to go that’s all.” I did not realize how time flew and we were already midway into the lockdown period. Looks like my dad has changed or has the lockdown period changed us all ?
I have got so used to things at home with workouts, cleaning, talking with cousins, friends and colleagues over Zoom calls that it feels odd to see when the lockdown is over. Once the lockdown is over, for things to come to normal and for people to come to terms with the reality and the devastation that the pandemic has caused, it sure will take time. We need to keep up with some of the good habits along for a long time to come.
I have heard stories from my cousins, few of my friends that one of them tested positive near their street and the entire family was taken to the hospital. What shocked was that hearing the news of their street neighbors they are now extra cautious and extra careful about things.
I was reading a tweet today which mentioned about an actor getting into a car crash. I mean really ? During this time, you know the situation is bad, this is one extra job for the cops. It read “Went to get medicine and I got crashed." The worst part was not the entire front part of the car getting damaged, it was when I went and saw this actor’s instagram post which said “Stay Home, Stay Safe. Home is the best place to be. Do not step out.” Have they lost their mind ? Am sure for an accident to occur at that level the person definitely did not drive within the permissible speeding limit in the city.
That was just one example of how people were not taking this seriously. Especially when a celebrity endorses and does not follow it. Breaks your heart at all the efforts failed. We must not give in to the pandemic, the fight is on and it is testing our patience level. The more patient we are and keep doing what we are doing, the worst will be over soon.
Signing off for today
